Our house is located in Bohult in Småland. We will share the exact address with you during the booking process.

Five bicycles are available. In the cannonball box in the living room, you will find games and excursion ideas for your days here.

The Skiren

The Skiren is just a few minutes from our house. We enjoy biking there ourselves because we like it so much.

Here, summer begins for us: with the first jump into the water, a cup of coffee by the shore, and long afternoons between sun, forest, and lake.

Nature, forest, and cycling

Lake, forest, and nature are part of this vacation. You can reach the lake by bicycle. Sea and archipelagos are also part of this coast of Småland – described near Oskarshamn and Dragskär.

Vimmerby and the Astrid Lindgren World are among the special experiences of the region.

Astrid Lindgren's World

Astrid Lindgren's World is located in Vimmerby, the birthplace of Astrid Lindgren, close to our house in Småland – without a distance indication. The theme park gathers environments from her books: Villa Villekulla, a Katthult setting, Mattisborgen, and other places where children can meet characters and play outside. There are open-air theaters based on the stories. Current admission prices and opening hours are available on the official website.

Bullerbü / Sevedstorp

Sevedstorp – often called Bullerbyn – is located outside of Vimmerby. The three small farms inspired Astrid Lindgren to create the children from Bullerbü; her father Samuel August grew up at Mellangården. The films were made here in 1986/87 under Lasse Hallström. Families can visit the village year-round, play outside, jump into hay in a barn, and see animals. The Café Sörgården is seasonal. Current information can be found on the tourism page.

Katthult

Katthult is the farm in Gibberyd where the films about Michel from Lönneberga were shot – not in Lönneberga itself and not the park set in Astrid Lindgren's World. Families can stroll between the buildings, recognize the flagpole, and visit the Snickerboa, where wooden figures can be seen. In summer, there is the Katthultsboden. The farm is a visit with film character on a real Småland farm. Prices and times are available on the operator's page.

Mariannelund / Filmbyn Småland

Mariannelund is the place. Filmbyn Småland is a film museum there: a living exhibition about the films featuring Emil, Pippi, the Bullerbyn children, and Ronja. Children are allowed to participate, see original costumes and studio sets, and learn how the films were made. The real filming locations Katthult and Bullerbyn are in the vicinity but are separate destinations. Tickets and opening hours are available on the official website.

Oskarshamn

Oskarshamn is where the Småland forest meets the sea. The town has grown around islands, straits, and skerries; the guest harbor is located in the center. For families, this is a different day than at the lake: open water, harbor air, and coast instead of quiet forest lakes.

Kalmar

Kalmar is a historic town by the water. Kalmar Slott stands on an island in the town: exhibitions on the Kalmar Union, the Kalmar War, and the Vasa period, guided tours, and the view from the ramparts. The castle belongs in this entry but is not a main destination on its own. The tourist center is located at the guest harbor. Current castle times and admissions are available on the official pages.

Stensjö village

Stensjö village is a cultural reserve in the municipality of Oskarshamn. The Kungl. Vitterhetsakademien preserves a scattered forest village as it functioned around 1900: narrow courtyards, small fields, garden fences, pasture, and forest. There are marked paths; some buildings are open to visitors, and a café operates seasonally. Scenes from the films about Bullerbyn and Emil i Lönneberga were filmed here. The area is accessible year-round. Check café hours before your visit.

Dragskär

Dragskär is the municipal seaside bathing area north of Oskarshamn. It features an inner sandy beach with a ramp, outer cliffs, and a flat sandy beach, along with a barbecue area, sanitation facilities, and a swing. It is a public bathing place by the sea – a coastal counterpart to Skiren. Current information can be found on the municipal bathing page.
