Our Story
This house is more than a holiday accommodation for us. It is our second home in Bohult – with a story that is longer than ours.
Why Sweden
It was never our plan to own a holiday home.
When we first entered this Swedish wooden house, we knew: This is where we want to spend time. Not just for a few days, but again and again.
Since then, Småland has become part of our family life. Close to the house lies the Skiren. Just a few minutes away, summer begins for us – with the first jump into the water, a cup of coffee by the shore, and long afternoons between sun, forest, and lake.
The History of the House
Some places you discover. Others feel familiar from the very first moment. That’s how we felt about this house.
Every house tells its own story. Ours begins long before we opened the front door for the first time.
The house is located in Bohult in Småland. It dates back to 1930. We will share the exact address only during the booking process.
Anna Norling
For many decades, Anna Norling lived here. For the people in Bohult, she was much more than a neighbor. She was the good soul of the village.
The front door to the street was often open. Anyone passing by could see Anna cooking at the old wooden stove – the stove that still has its place in the house today. Children were always welcome in her home. It was a place of encounter, warmth, and an open door.
When we took over the house, her name kept coming up. The seller, who grew up in Bohult herself, told us about Anna and the significance she had for the village.
1983
Old newspaper articles still remind us of her and the great forest fire of 1983, which she narrowly survived.
It quickly became clear to us: This house should carry on her name. That’s why our house is called Annas Schwedenhaus im Glück.
Our Second Home
Since then, this house has become our second home.
A place where we as a family can find peace. Where the first coffee in the morning is just as important as shared dinners, game nights, or an outing to the Skiren.
It doesn’t feel like accommodation. It feels like home.
Preserve instead of perfect
We have changed many things over the past years. At the same time, it was important for us to preserve the character of the house.
Old wooden floors may creak. Signs of use tell their story. Not every wall has to be perfect. That’s exactly what makes this house special for us.
The old wooden stove remains. It reminds us that this house has long been a home – not just since we arrived here.
Why we share it with you
Now a new chapter begins here. With new families. New memories.
And hopefully with the same feeling that Anna has given to her home for many decades.
